in other words, they kinda tried too hard (in my opinion, anyway), but their first two records - "life" and "emmerdale", are nothing short of wonderful, and their latest album is a fantastic departure into what could almost be considered alt.country (think shelby lynne or even a bit of k.d. If all you've heard is the album with "lovefool" and/or the following album, "gran turismo", i can't say i blame you, though i don't mind their "last band on the moon" 's just that one album was crafted to be their mainstream "break out" album, and the following record feels like a way of anticipating a backlash. Roxette - Spending My Time auf YouTube ansehen. Per Gessles songwriting genius is on full display and Marie Fredriksson is singing great as always. Per Gessle is unlike most writers though - the guy is a genius at coming up with tunes that dont tire and yet are catchy. When I first heard that there was a new Roxette album out I thought it would probably be full of so-so songs as so often the case with songwriters is that understandably it gets harder and harder to come up with great songs. And then Marie Fredriksson had a seizure, she had a brain tumor. i think their music is incredibly versatile and playful, and the songwriting is a great balance of introspective/dark and giddy fun.
